    New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is off to a great start to the new year. As I’ve been thinking a lot about New Year’s resolutions, I wanted to share some of what I’ve been working on as well as some of what I have planned. My biggest resolution this year is to prioritize art. As many of you know, at the beginning of December I was able to leave my full time job. Over the past few weeks I’ve been figuring out the transition from working for someone else to working for myself full time, and what I’ve found is that its very easy to get caught up doing so many other things, other than what I really want to be doing which is making art. • The Best Birthday Gift Ever

This year I gave myself the best Birthday/ Holiday gift ever: time. Because some other events totally outside of my control fell perfectly into place, I was able to leave my day job. Collaboration with Poet Ava Chin

I recently had the privilege of collaborating with poet Ava Chin on a broadside print of her poem, A Recipe for Forgiveness. Scholarship for Advanced Studies in Book Arts

I am excited to announce that in August I was accepted to the Scholarship for Advanced Studies in Book Arts Program at the Center for Book Arts in New York City. I am honored to be working alongside fellow scholars Laura Byrne and Ben Denzer during the 2017- 2018 scholar program. The program began in September and I have just been settling in and getting to know the other residents, scholars and artists that make work at the center as well as taking a few classes. I was involved at CBA before as a shop steward and studio renter, and I am so happy to now be a book arts scholar. (more…)

    Welcome to ElizabethCastaldo.com

Welcome to my new website! During this very busy year I’ve been trying to figure out what I really want from my art career. With the help of “TheWorkingArtist” online course, I devoted quite a bit of time to focusing on what my professional goals are and planning for how to best achieve them. One of the most daunting items on my to do list literally for years has been making a new website and I am happy to say that I have finally crossed that item off the list. (more…)
